In part one we looked at what online dating sites are and a few things to know before you start to use them. Here we will look at a few other things to consider when using online dating sites.

Although online dating is safe and inexpensive; and almost all of the online dating sites are very sincere about finding you the perfect partner there are some that may not be up to par with the best ones. This is a case of what you can’t see might hurt you.

There are con men and women out there who use internet dating as a means to separate victims of their wealth. Others wish to inflict serious bodily harm. While some use it for other forms of cyber-crimes. Unfortunately, due to the vastness of the Internet, there isn’t an effective way to police every e-mail or the chat rooms without violating our right to privacy.

Here are some things to consider when using an online dating site.

1) Never give out your location – This is the most important rule in online dating. When meeting someone online for the first time, never give specific details about your location. Do not give your home address or landmarks. Try to correspond with each other through email or chat rooms around six or more times, or until you are confident that he or she can be trusted.

2) Don’t divulge your finances – Another big rule for online dating sites. The prudent thing to do when your correspondent seems interested in the amount of money you make is to drop him or her. If at some point, your correspondent seeks financial aid it might be a genuine request, but don’t take that chance. Drop them, it’s so easy to do.

3) Listen and verify – What do your potential partners want, honesty and sincerity? Remember you do not know who you’re really talking to, so be careful. It may be difficult at first if you’re new to using online dating sites but given time, you’ll be able to spot the difference between sincerity and lies. Listen to each and every word they say. A big advantage of online dating is that you have time to step back and meticulously process the correspondent’s story.

4) Tell a friend – When you get to that final stage in your internet courtship in which you arrange a face-to-face meeting, a rule of thumb is to meet in a public area. Always tell a friend where you’re going and leave means to contact you. If you’re uncomfortable going alone, bring a friend. That could help put you at ease and provide a measure of safety.If you know beforehand you might really be nervous meeting them alone you could mention you might bring a friend, just to see their reaction. But that’s no guarantee of anything as they could put on an act if they know that beforehand.

So now when you log in to an online dating site you will have some idea as to what to expect. The first time will still be an adventure, as well as possibly several times until you get used to it.. Find your perfect match, or closest match. The second and more important adventure begins when you meet them in person.

Online dating sites are loads of fun and can be very productive, depending on what you expect and how flexible you are.. It ’s not the same as going out on a Friday Night and hoping you can catch the right person. Some people will think you a little strange for using online dating sites. Others might think you’re crazy or desperate, but little do they know your chances of finding a compatible partner for a relationship might be much better than they could ever imagine.
