When the World Wide Web first started most things were free. The free dating websites are still available, many being new and not the original free dating websites. In fact, I just did a Google search on them and got over fifty-four thousand results. However there are a lot more dating membership sites and others that are not free.

There were about a quarter million results when I left the word “free” off my search. There were about fifteen times more paid sites than free dating websites. Some free dating websites are free for certain things, but for the best and most successful experience you usually need to pay something for their “premium” services.

Meeting other people is not hard to do now that there are a lot of free dating websites that cater to this need. Gone are the times when a man has to gather up all his courage to talk to a woman. Nowadays, all he has to do is type in what he wants to say and everything will go smoothly from there. Well, at least that ‘s how it can be. Sometimes those easy things get sidetracked by other non existent problems before the PC’s took over.

Example, I was going to check some free dating websites. I had found a list of them to check out. I decided to check further on one and started to fill out a form. Halfway through I had to do something here at my home and got detained. When I came back I found my computer hung-up and I had to reboot it after trying all sorts of things to no avail.

Not only had I lost my data I had entered on the form, but I had a heck of a time finding that site again. It wasn’t a popular site and I had previously changed the settings on my browser to not save any previous sites I had visited. That ended up being well over an hour wasted and I couldn’t spend anymore time checking out free dating websites that day. Well that was possibly one person I could have found on those free dating websites that I didn’t meet.

This is what free dating websites can do. There are a lot of those type websites. You cannot go on one of them without being bombarded with advertisements. So many ads about those kinds of dating services. I guess that’s how they make their money – through heavy advertising. They have become quite famous too. It seems that everybody is joining one or more groups in order to meet someone whom they can have a serious relationship with in the long run.

But not all of these free dating websites can bring good results. A lot of people have been known to have bad experiences when they join these services. It can be noted that not all persons that use free dating websites want good things to happen. Some of them are taking advantages of it being a free experience for their own gain. It’s hard to tell how often, but sometimes they have bad intentions. A site where it cost them no money would probably be the first logical place for those persons with evil intent to start out.

The negative things that has and is happening to free dating websites should not hinder you from joining one. You never know if it is there that you can find your soul mate. You could be missing your chance of finding the right man or woman by not trying free dating websites.

It would be wise to take some preventative measures before hitting all the free dating websites. Here are some precautionary things you need to do so you can be better assured your free dating websites experience will be something worthwhile and satisfying.

1. Check out any free dating websites first.
You can always tell if the site is being managed by professional people from the way it looks. This reminds me of the “what you see is what you get” philosophy. In most cases worthwhile sites will appear very well maintained and highly organized. It just follows that if the persons behind the free dating website takes time in maintaining their site, they too are taking good care of their members and customers.

If the free dating website looks as if no one is updating and fixing it, then it’s better to try out other sites. They could be doing the same lousy job in screening their members.

2. withhold personal information initially.
When you are sure of the authenticity and privacy of any free dating websites then you can give it. You need to make sure that the information you give is not being given away for any other purpose. Check to see if the website has a privacy link present. Read through that link to make certain that the free dating website is really into keeping their data confidential.

You can also check out the requirements and agreements that they have. It can tell you things about the persons that are chosen to be a part of their team.

3. Not everything you read is true.
Look for proof of the statements being made by the free dating websites. They should have some backup information about what they say they are and what they do. Do not be taken in easily by what the website is saying.

It might be wise to ask them several questions about their service and privacy by email first before you do anything. The free dating websites answers, or lack of answers, could help you make up your mind whether they are as they appear to be. If you can’t reach them by email or it takes too long for a response, or even no response then cross that service off your list.

Another thing you might do is a Google or Yahoo search to see if anything bad turns up about the free dating website service. Sometimes you might find too many bad experiences described in forums or other comments on sites related to dating. If so, the the intended free dating website that you are considering could be too iffy to take a chance on. If you become suspicious for whatever reason, it’s probably better to pass on that particular site.

In order for you not to become a victim of those persons that are using these websites for the wrong reasons, you need to be extra careful in choosing the free dating websites you will join. Take the normal precautions you would take if spending money on a site and be even more cautious since its your life and emotions that are at stake.
