Dating is the last thing on your mind if you’re like many of us with your day filled with work, maybe 12 hours overall counting travel time, if you live in a place like Southern California. That, plus some home chores and sleep takes up a whole day. It leaves little time for anything else let alone dating.

Are you trying to figure you can work dating into your schedule if you are exhausted after work, sometimes returning home in the evening, plus working all or part of Saturday? The truth of the matter is that many people have schedules like this. How does this leave time for dating, for a social life, for any extra curricular activities? For those of you that have children or a single child, the lack of time for dating is even worse. Any dating activity will need to be squeezed into your schedule very delicately.

Most people, unless they are a couch potato, have their working days taken up generally in full, by work, travel time to work, and other necessary things to do at home. A few other things that are done during off hours and the whole week is pretty much gone. Then there is the little bit of free or do nothing time some of us have, but that’s usually not enough time to handle dating.

Don’t be discouraged about getting yourself out there in the dating scene if you have a busy schedule. It is very common today and is not a liability. So many people who are juggling a lot of things in their lives is common nowadays. That’s not unusual anymore when it comes to dating.

The first step after your dating begins is to see if you feel a connection with the person you’re dating and if you have things in common. If that is there, then meeting can be a nice break for both of you from your hectic, busy schedule, plus that commonality is also a potential door to a life outside of work.

A life outside of work is important for your own happiness, but it also has a beneficial effect on family life. If you have kids, you’ll be less prone to living your life through them and being overly involved in their lives, plus you’ll be showing them it’s possible to move on which is a wonderful life lesson.

Sometimes your dating activities can include those common things both of you have in common. For example, suppose both of you like music and maybe even one of you plays a musical instrument. Attending a concert where the kind of music you both might enjoy can spark up both of your lives.

If you are single, dating will get you out of the routine you have. This can be a new way to add flexibility into your schedule. Realizing that others have many life responsibilities they need to fulfill should help you to feel comfortable with getting yourself out there. You don’t have to wait till the time is perfect to start dating now. There is no “perfect” time since it always seems that life replaces one emergency with another.

Just don’t let yourself get too discouraged about the limited time you can spend dating. Besides if things did happen to go well when dating somehow you will almost surely find time to squeeze in more time for you to be together, even if it’s on the phone as a mini dating event.
